Xclef MT-500 Firmware Upgrading

Uninstall the old transfer software and install the new Digital Utility. Use the utility to install the new firmware, then install the font as well. Unplug your player, and switch on. It will reformat the internal memory so you'll lose and data on there as well as your personal settings.

When connected the display normally shows "UMS connect". In this mass-storage mode you cannot upgrade the firmware, and the Digital Utility program will not have the Upgrade Firmware or Install Font buttons available.

So... go to 'Function Setup' and choose 'Upgrade'. The message "Upgrade USB not connect" will appear. Now plug in the USB cable and the display will show "USB" and the utility should let you upgrade the firmware.
